Meet the Founder

Thelma D. Jones is an award-winning community activist, breast cancer survivor, advocate, and founder of the Thelma D. Jones Breast Cancer Fund. Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007, she transformed her experience into a lifelong commitment to breast health awareness, early detection, prevention, and support.

Through her work with ACS and ACS CAN, Jones has advocated nationally and locally for cancer research, tobacco control, and health equity. In 2010, she founded the TDJBCF Support Group, providing a safe and supportive space for survivors and caregivers, particularly in underserved communities.

A former World Bank Group employee, Jones has dedicated decades to civic engagement, youth development, community outreach, and philanthropy. Her leadership has earned numerous honors, including the White House Champion of Change Award and ACS CAN’s State Lead Ambassador of the Year Award.
